Four NGO Leaders Arrested in Zimbabwe

Printer-friendly version

The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) staff members Thulani Ndhlovu and Ndodana Ndlovu were arrested on October 29, 2009 in Dete Hwange, for conducting a public outreach workshop, allegedly without police clearance.  Ndodana Ndhlovu has been released, but Thulani Ndhlovu remains incarcerated and is being charged under the Public Order and Security Act (POSA).  These arrests come on the heels of two other arrests of two leaders of the National Association of NGOs on October 24.  ZESN is calling for the police to release Thulani Ndhlovu and repeal the POSA law.
