Assistance Foundations
Network of Democracy Assistance Foundations
The Network of Democracy Assistance Foundations is a loose association of organizations that are publicly funded but non-governmental, and that are dedicated to the advancement of democracy in non-democracies and/or countries in transition to democracy. The network has met several times since 1993, and has grown considerably since that initial meeting. One of the network's objectives has been to encourage the establishment of additional such institutions.
This section grew out of the discussion at a workshop on programmatic challenges facing these foundations held at the Second Assembly of the World Movement for Democracy, where participants expressed an interest in sharing ideas and experiences on an ongoing basis.
