World Youth Movement for Democracy Launches Global Essay Contest
To commemorate the International Youth Day for Democracy on August 12, 2010, the World Youth Movement for Democracy is launching its Global Essay Contest. Youth, age 18 to 30, are invited to participate and help illustrate the role that youth around the world play in democracy. Essay topic options have been designed to allow youth to describe their own experiences, perspectives, and understanding of democracy, as well as underscore the universal democratic values shared by individuals from different cultures all over the world. Three essays from each region will be selected as semi-finalists and will be published on the World Youth Movement for Democracy Web site. Two grand prize winners will receive cost sponsorship to attend the Community of Democracies Ministerial Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, in July 2011. The essay submission deadline is on October 18, 2010, World Youth Day for Democracy.
