Over 50 organizations organized events for the Global Day of Citizen Action on May 16, providing platforms to connect people from across the world, through the sharing of stories, skills and lessons learned.

The Global Day of Citizen Action is part of CIVICUS‘s BE THE CHANGE campaign to raise awareness about the importance of citizen action and civic space – the freedom to speak out, organize and take action. Events were held in more than 60 countries, and online actions were taken using the hashtag #CivicSpace.
