Article 19 Issues Statements on Freedom of Expression in Azerbaijan and Burma

Article 19 recently issued a pair of statements about the deteriorating situations of freedom of expression and information in Azerbaijan and Burma. In the first statement, along with international and local NGOs, Article 19 condemned the persecution of nine journalists, protesters, and human rights defenders for exercising their right to freedom of expression and information in Azerbaijan.

In the second statement, Article 19 called for the withdrawal or rejection of a draft press bill in Burma that would give the government full control over the media and hinder freedom of expression and freedom of the press. Click here to read the statements on Azerbaijan and Burma.
